This standard gives design details of shoulders of shafts and housings, in or on which rolling bearings are to be seated. Compliance with the values specified precludes distortion of the bearing as a result of inadequate fillet radii, leaves enough space for any projecting cage parts of tapered roller bearings and ensures ease of mounting and removal. Where axial loads are high and in the case of axial contact bearings, attention should be paid to the manufacturer’s instructions with regard to the design of adjacent machine parts.
