Express Testing, Inc. was founded by Michael Benton in Michigan in 2001. Operations were moved to the current location in Colorado in 2014. Michael has a B.S. in Metallurgical Engineering from the Ohio State University and is the lead investigator in all failure analysis activities. Michael also has previous experience as a Materials Engineer in the aerospace and automotive industries.
Material Testing
We perform a wide range of material testing including chemical analysis (OES, XRF, EDS, ICP), tensile testing, hardness measurement (Rockwell, microhardness), SEM documentation, corrosion testing (salt spray testing), microstructure evaluation, FTIR and coating weight/thickness measurement.
Failure Analysis
Express Testing has supported a variety of industries and customers in the evaluation of failures. We evaluate fractured parts along with assemblies that have failed and no longer perform their intended function.
Microstructures/Metallography, Hardness Measurement, Chemical Analysis, Tensile Testing, Coating/Plating Evaluation, Evaluation of corrosion resistance, Evaluation of Welds, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), FTIR evaluations of plastics, rubbers, grease/oil and most non-metallic materials, Failure Analysis, Salt Spray Testing ASTM B117, Coating Adhesion Measurement, Blister and Rust Evaluation, Coating Weight Measurement, Pencil test method per ASTM D3363
