Detailed Information

1. ANSI/ASME B18.6.3 is a standard developed through the procedures of The American Society of Mechanical Engineers. B18.6.3 is under the jurisdiction of ASME Standards Committee B18 and is the direct responsibility of its Subcommittee 6.
2. B18.6.3 covers machine screws and machine screw nuts. The portion of this standard for machine screws is presented in Section I of this book. B18.6.3 was last issued in 1972 and reaffirmed, without technical change in 1977, 1983 and again in 1997. It was then revised in 1998.
3. The requirements for both square and hex machine screw nuts are included. However, user interest In square machine screw nuts has declined significantly during the past several years and IFI strongly recommends that selection priority be given hex machine screw nuts.
4. In the presentation of these nut standards in this book, some editorial changes have been made. None of the B18.6.3 requirements has been omitted or technically altered.
