This Standard specifies the requirements for case hardened and tempered metric thread rolling screws. Thread rolling screws according to this Standard produce female threads which fit general purpose metric screw threads, in the range from 2 mm up to and including 12 mm nominal thread diameter, for use in general engineering applications.

JIS B 1051 Mechanical properties of fasteners made of carbon steel and alloy steel — Part 1 : Bolts, screws and studs is not applicable to screws made according to this Standard.
